Choosing your scanner

Once you've set up the drawing names, you must then choose the scanner you wish to use.

If your computer is connected to only one scanner, ScanLevel automatically chooses this scanner for you. However, if you are connected to more than one scanner, ScanLevel will ask you to select a scanner.

The Choose Scanner Driver dialog box shows you which scanners are currently available.

If there are no scanners available, this may be because:

Other people are connected to all the scanners, so there are none available for your use. In this case, find out if there's someone who no longer needs to use a scanner, ask them to disconnect, then try again.

There are no scanners to be found; perhaps your scanner is not powered on, or perhaps its SCSI lead has become unplugged. Ask your system administrator to correct this, or - only if you know what you are doing - do it yourself.

The ScanLevel software then connects to the scanner; the communication involved may take a short while. Once that's finished, you're connected, and the scanner is reserved for your use.
